Pupil Voice is highly valued at The Shrubbery and our School Council has an extremely important role within our community.
Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) says that children and young people should have a say in decisions that affect their lives. Our School Council provides a meaningful way in which pupils can voice their opinions and have their views considered in decisions which impact upon them.
The main objective of the Shrubbery School Parents Association is to provide a vital link between parents and the school. It provides a supportive forum to exchange ideas on fundraising activities, and creates opportunities to enhance our children’s experience that are outside of the core learning objectives of the school.
We organise several events such as the summer fayre, sponsored bounce, discos and even an outdoor movie night which proved to be a tremendous success. The funds raised through these events go directly into providing fantastic opportunities for the children. We also run a very successful second hand uniform shop. The committee is made up of parents who volunteer their time to organise and plan activities. It is chaired by Mrs Louise Priddy, the vice-chair is Mrs Tusheeta David and the treasurer is Mrs Tara Lawrence.
How to help
We need as many parents as possible to get involved, and we welcome all new volunteers. The PA meets once a term and you may either join us for the meetings, or help at one of our organised events. If you would like to get involved in the PA, or have any questions or suggestions, please email Louise(louisepriddy@yahoo.com).
At The Shrubbery we think it is important to give our pupils valuable opportunities to help support the community. The school is involved in several charitable activities across the year to support a number of different good causes. We currently support:
Macmillan Cancer Support
Children in Need
Wear Yellow for World Mental Health Day
Local food bank with donations
